When your usual assistant becomes your client, your husband becomes your assistant - and the entire shoot becomes one big, beautiful get-together!
Lezaan and Morné's couple session was fun-filled, romantic and beautiful. It was the result of months of planning, pinning, location scouting and idea scribbling. It was worth every effort that was put into it! With a black tie feel in mind, we dressed Lezaan in a dramatic, black leather and lace dress from Nika Couture. Morné wore one of his dashing suits, still in his cupboard from his days as a Mr. South Africa finalist. Lezaan's hair and makeup was understated, yet elegant, done by the talented Mikhara Ford. The backdrop to this styled session was the rooftop at Jozi Studios, based in the heart of the Johannesburg CBD. For anyone who followed Instagram Stories, you would know that the behind the scenes photos were not nearly as glamorous as the final ones! We climbed on a loose metal ladder, through tight openings in walls and over heaps of building material to get our dream photos. At one stage, I even stood on a tall wobbly ladder, trying to conquer my well-kept secret fear of heights! Jozi Studios is unfortunately no longer based at this location, but we look forward to their new studios.
Thank you Lezaan and Morne for just being a feast to photograph! You are exquisite people, inside and out. Thank you Annika from Nika Couture and Mikhara for being the best at what you do. Thank you to my hubby for stepping up and stepping in to hold my bag, reflector and the wobbly ladder I stood on.
